As Per Mercury Marine's Instructions

 

Props.

1.  Sand the entire surface to be painted with 120 grit sandpaper.

2.  Feather edges of damaged area, try not to sand the primer off.

3.  Clean the surface of the area with DX330 Wax and Grease remover or equivalent.

4.  If bare metal is exposed use Mercury's Light gray primer.

5.  Allow to dry for 1 hour but not more than 1 week.

6.  Paint the area with Mercury EDP Propeller Black.

 

Gear Housings.

1.  Wash gear housing with Muriatic acid to remove marine growth and rinse with water.

2.  Wash gear housing with hot soapy water and rinse.

3.  Sand damaged area with 180 grit sand paper.  Feather the edges.

4.  Clean the gear housing with DX-330 Wax and Grease remover or equivalent.

5.  Spot repair bare metal surfaces with DX-503 alodine treatment.

6.  Mix epoxy chromate primer DP-90LF with equal part catalyst DP-402LF.

7.  Allow 1 hour drying time and not more than 1 week.

8.  Use Ditzler Urethane DU9300 for Mercury Phantom Black and DU34334 for Mariner light gray.  Catalyze with DU5.

9.  The type of spay gun will dictate the proper reduction ratio of paint.

10.  Cover the mating surface of the trim tab and gear housing.

11.  Do not paint the sacrificial zinc trim tab or zinc anode.
